Welcome to my portfolio.

My name is Camryn Wimberly (she/her).

Through my work in food writing, social advocacy, and mental health, I aim to balance creativity with practicality, something I feel is essential for any line of work. I have embraced a professional approach to writing, through my research and work experience, while continuing to foster my love of food writing. My writing offers a unique opportunity to foster justice and equity, and both values intersect with my goal to create a safer and more inclusive environment for all individuals.

Allrecipes

I joined the Allrecipes News & Trending team in June 2025. In this role, I cover breaking news and evergreen news focused on restaurant and fast food menus and grocery-related news, including product releases, food reviews, and recalls. I write between 6 and 8 articles a week, operating on a part-time basis.

I pitch my own story ideas throughout the week, and am also assigned topics by our editing team. Occasionally, I will source content from PR representatives, connecting and networking with individuals to find brands that align with my area of expertise.

Social Media Consultation

During my undergraduate career, I earned a certificate in Digital Marketing and Social Media Management, equipping me with the skills to navigate today's ever-evolving social network

Between February 2024 and  June 2025, I was a Social Media Consultant for MediaMark Spotlight. In this role, I managed communications strategies for several clients in various industries, ranging from food and beverage vendors, nonprofit organizations, mortgage brokers, real estate agencies, and law firms.

My work included creating and scheduling monthly social media content across platforms such as Facebook, X, Instagram, LinkedIn, and YouTube, using SEO and marketing trends to boost engagement. I also wrote and scheduled newsletters and blog posts, tracking performance through weekly engagement reports, and collaborating with graphic designers and workflow managers to ensure our content was delivered efficiently.

EatingWell

As the 2024 editorial fellow for EatingWell, I gained a wealth of experience within the food writing industry. My responsibilities included writing and publishing multiple articles a week related to food and wellness, including food recalls, celebrity interviews, and product releases. I published two personal recipes for EatingWell's Heritage Cooking Column.

I also wrote and produced two recipe galleries a day and utilized SEO knowledge to improve site traffic. Every week, I attended daily pitch meetings and pitch unique ideas for galleries and articles. I also looked at site traffic and metrics to identify underperforming content every week. With that information, I then edited and updated specific content for republishing.

Following the end of my fellowship in June 2025, I work as a part-time editor and writer for EatingWell, focusing on revising and republishing outdated content and assisting with recipe galleries.

Reminiscent
Candle-Making Kits:
Marketing Presentation

This powerpoint contains an in-depth look at my mock marketing campaign for Yankee Candle,  The campaign includes the fully designed logos, a SWOT analysis graphic, an analysis of the petition, and a description of the brand partners.

Asking the Hard Questions of Self-Identity as a Biracial Individual

This essay attempts to contextualize the difficulties of being a biracial young woman. By referencing works by Nella Larsen as well as pop culture and media, the piece holds a personal tone as it highlights the way a mixed-race individual works to find wholeness in a society that often questions their innate worth.

Integrated Marketing Campaign for Peloton

This project was the final requirement for my Digital Marketing Certificate. I collaborated with a team to devise a comprehensive IMC plan for Peloton, including a SWOT analysis, creative brief, competitor analysis, two magazine ads, a radio script, landing pages, and more. We also presented this campaign to our professor.

Taste of Mindfulness

Initially created as a Girl Scout project to earn my Girl Scout Gold Award, Taste of Mindfulness has become a personal blog focused on advocating for mental health awareness by sharing and collaborating with other writers who also have a passion for mental health advocacy. More recently, the focus of the blog has transitioned into a food and wellness blog, aiming to share recipes and discuss the role food has on our wellbeing.

Bringing Home The Yankee Candle Experience: “Reminiscent Kits”

This project was a part of a mock marketing campaign for Yankee Candle, in which I created a campaign to sell at-home candle-making kits. The campaign includes an executive summary, a SWOT analysis, competitior analysis, and positioning.

Making the Connection: Replacement Theory, Mass Incarceration, and the Media

This piece was a blog post written during my time as the Communications and Policy Intern with Common Justice. It focuses on defining the concept of  replacement theory in the media and addressing  its correlation with mass incarceration in our country.
